Youth Program explained
Palladium Private Youth program– what is it?
If a parent is faced with an issue of a teenager or young adult exhibiting irrational behavior, where do they go for real long lasting help? Where will they gain lessons that they will still be carrying with them their entire life? School facilities and government counseling services are often overwhelmed and inadequate for what is needed. The issue often presents as anger or belligerence, lack of respect for others or self, social inadequacy, eating disorders, binges drinking and or drug experimentation- often coupled with anxiety and or depression. Goals are hard to start and rarely finished. What we know is that the youth does not “know the way out” as they cannot identify the cause of the problem.
“With due respect to David Bowie, ‘They are NOT (fully) aware of what they are going through’; when faced with situations for the first time it is natural to stumble as we learn. When youth stumbles their self worth is so easily challenged due to its very newness conceptually. What they need is a workable philosophy that can be applied regardless of the newness of the situations. One that can be applied to any situation to create a lesson from the situation, leaving their self worth intact. The Fountainhead Method supplies just that. ”
Wayne Parrot Hon Chairman Anti Depression Association of Australia
Why do traditional methods perform so poorly with youth stress?
Traditional western culture and media compound the problems of troubled youth. They incorrectly learn to measure their self worth through their environment. By what they look like, what they achieve and what they own. They have the pressure of fully achieving their potential – an imagined measurement (often someone else-not theirs) and within an imagined time frame. If they are not achieving this “potential” at the correct rate, the young person labels themselves as a failure, becomes angry and depressed and starts shutting down thinking themselves inadequate and their life unfixable. The next stage may be alcohol or drug use to deal with the emotional pain and low sense of worth and can of course lead to suicidal (4) thoughts.
Psychotherapy spends a lot of therapy time searching for individual triggers and the history of these triggers that may not even exist, as the problem is a faulty reality perception and self worth model. Psychoanalysis spreads its talk therapy out, often over a number of years and relies often on medication to help manage the symptoms; again not the cause and opening the door for addiction or faulty brain development. The youth may also start collecting labels such as add, adhd, borderline personality disorder, clinical depression or anxiety or eating issues reinforcing the belief that they are broken or damaged.
“Now I know how to measure my self esteem properly, The pressure is gone, I am now free to fail and learn from it, the whole world has opened for me and the fear of failure is gone thanks for my life back its just awesome”
Reagan Lipan, 16 years old – November 2010
Why Palladium Private does work to turn youth issues around
At Palladium we believe that to remedy the situation long term a few crucial items must be present. The young person needs to understand how to correctly measure their self worth. They must learn to understand stress fully and then how to process events in their life to reduce and eliminate it , The youth will be blame focused, normally blaming parents or self; and this way of thinking must be un-done. Learning from events in life is crucial information for gaining character and experience. No one would ever swap the lessons they have learned in life. If a goal attempted is not achieved in the way imagined a lesson must be learned and a persons self worth should not be jeopardized.
“If I find 10,000 ways something won’t work, I haven’t failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.” Thomas Edison
▪ We only use Fountainhead Method ™, trained life coaches. “The Fountainhead Method™ is the number one system for understanding stress and its application to health in the world today” [1]
▪ It is supported by Journey Therapy. Developed originally by American author Brandon bays similar to time line therapy but different in that the focuses is not only to identify your patterns of behavior and its origin-but to change the pattern then and there. “Where was this when I was studying psychology at University”[2]
▪ It is underpinned by Mindfulness training which has existed for millennia but has only been explained scientifically the last twenty years. “One has to try to develop one’s inner feelings, which can be done simply by training one’s mind.” [3]
“I am 100% worthy of being here all the time. Four weeks ago I arrived suicidal. I could not have imagined saying that let alone believing it as true. You have saved my life”.
Kurt Crompton, 17 years old – Sept 2009
The pressure of always achieving to satisfy self worth is exhausting, and if imagined goals are not achieved rather than learning from the experience and building character the person will label themselves a failure and shut down spiraling into depression , believing their life is ruined and they are worthless. Suicide when once “never considered option” now is contemplated in an effort to save the remaining aspects of self worth.
“No matter what I did it was never enough, I was always achieving always moving forward, if things did not work out the way I imagined them I would punish myself as weak and worthless. I did not know any different. Now when I achieve a goal I can actually enjoy it”.
Maria Pellengi, 22 year of age- Jan 2011.
What the experts say The Anti Depression Association of Australia (ADAA); recently interviewed author Michelle Mark who confirms this new approach to treatment for today’s youth: “When you are experiencing this type of behavior , the real work needed to stabilise the young person for the long term is not done by changing how they feel or shielding them from life. This is a temporary solution at best. The real work is done by understanding and changing the root cause of their emotional response. Youth suffering from stress related issues, (and this is at the core of anorexia, bulimia, anxiety and suicidal thoughts) must be convinced that the measurement they are using is undeveloped or incorrect and that their worth is not contingent on what they do or do not achieve. The Fountainhead Method™ shows you how to do this”.Its not about having less tough lessons in life, it is about having the tools and skills to deal with them effectively.
“I used to reject compliments, they didn’t match the way I thought of myself. Now I accept them gladly and am glad to be alive. I have put on 15 kg in a year and feel at a healthy weight for the first time since I was 12. The future doesn’t scare me anymore” Genevieve Brewitt, age 16 years – Jan 2009
